AEROSPACE SAMARA CITY

Space and our city are inextricably connected with each other. There is a unique Samara Space Museum in the center of the city. Have you ever seen a life-size rocket? The facade of the museum building is decorated with a genuine Soyuz rocket – it is the only vertically installed booster in Europe assembled! The pedestal of the rocket-monument is the building of the original design which houses the “Samara Space” museum. The height of the rocket together with the building is almost 55 meters!

Students of all summer schools have a unique opportunity to visit the museum of cosmonautics and get acquainted with the space industry of the Soviet Union and Russia.

Samara is the space capital of Russia. Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kuibyshev (now Samara) was a closed city for foreigners because famous Soviet launch vehicles Vostok and Soyuz were designed and manufactured at the rocket and space plant “Progress”. The first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin flew to space in a rocket designed in Samara.

The Museum presents a variety of exhibits: from space food to real rocket engines. The history of space exploration from the first research in this area to today's latest developments of Russian scientists are gathered together in the hall of the Museum. The stars are closer than it seems.
